Friday’s Words

So it’s Friday. Doesn’t really make any difference to me though. I’ve not got a day off until at least next Tuesday. Still, I’ve noticed that as the evenings are beginning to draw in, and sunset is currently around eight o’clock,  silly season on the road is starting. Quite a few cyclists are already riding about with no lights on as the daylight fades.

Even before it’s totally dark, it becomes less easy to see unlit bicycles especially when they’re in the shadow of passing vehicles, and with the headlights of oncoming cars, trucks and buses making it harder still.

Today the weather is still lovely and warm, but a little cooler than yesterday, topping out in the low 80’s this afternoon. Glorious sunshine for most of the day though, so no complaints there.

Steamed VegetablesIt’s going to be a little cooler over the next few days, but it doesn’t look like the end of summer any time soon. You never know in this part of the world, but, after all, we’re still in August, and we could have decent warm weather for at least another month yet.

All in all we’ve had a pretty reasonable summer. Of course, it doesn’t please everyone. We don’t generally have air-conditioning in the home here in England, so it can get a little warm and sticky indoors sometimes, especially at bedtime.

Which brings me to it being that time again really.  Had a nice glass of wine after some delicious pork cooked by Kathy, along with some green beans and coleslaw.

It’s time to say good goodnight.

Thursday’s Words

I had a really good night’s sleep for a change. I often have trouble sleeping, and even getting to sleep. Then quite often, I’ll wake up at some ungodly hour and then end up lying there in the dark unable to drop off again for a couple of hours or more. Of course, that can leave me feeling tired and drained the next day, which is no fun if I’ve got work or some errands to do.

I tucked into some yogurt for breakfast, and some chia seed bread and ham. I also made some of that for my sandwiches for work today, adding some sliced tomatoes and coleslaw.

I really enjoy the warm weather we’ve had, but I do find that I’m drinking a lot more water. Of course, that’s no bad thing. I don’t drink soda or any of that ghastly flavored water, and I can’t make tea and coffee most of the time when I’m at work, so I drink two or three bottles of water,  that’s three or four pints.

It's MeAfter work today I had another delicious bowl of the chicken bog that Kathy made yesterday as she had made far too much to eat in one sitting!

I also bought some grapes on the way home, and I managed to eat half of them already.

I’ll have a nice cup of rooibus tea to finish off with after I’ve finished this blog post, and then I’ll probably call it a night before much longer.

Wednesday Words

It’s been probably the warmest day so far this month. It was in the 70’s this morning when I got up, and it got progressively warmer as the day went on.

Got washed and dressed and then had a nice simple cooked breakfast of grilled bacon and fried eggs, and some freshly brewed coffee.

It was certainly a warm day at work today! By late afternoon the temperature was into the low 90’s.  All of a sudden though, around seven o’clock the rain started. For a short while it was quite heavy. It did cool everything down too, and now at around midnight It’s down to only 72 degrees.

Kathy made a rather good chicken bog for dinner this evening, and I finished off with some fruit.

With that it’s goodnight!
