Friday On My Mind

It’s Friday. That is a week gone by already. Time flies when you’re not at work. Anyway, I was awake around quarter past seven. Laid there for a while reading the news on my phone, and then got up and made a pot of coffee.

Went back to bed and chilled for a while. Got up again, and showered and finished the coffee. Had some cheese spread on toast for breakfast.

Weird though, it feels like it’s the weekend – Saturday.

Started a little bit in the garden. Picked one of the tomato plants of its fruit, as we are likely to get some frosts in the next few nights which will kill the plants off anyway. It’s mild for the time of the year, but the temperatures are, generally, dropping after dark into the 30’s.

As it is a nice mild afternoon, I sat in in the back yard for a while to enjoy the warmth of the autumn sun. A glass of wine was a great accompaniment.

After a while the sun moved around, and I was in the shade. Feeling it was rather cooler I removed myself indoors, and watched some of the International Gymnastics from Dubai.
After that, Kathy was watching Poirot and I listened to some music via my iPhone and AirPods.

Kathy made dinner with a starter of some fried green tomatoes and then sausages with cauliflower mash and peas with a cheese sauce.

Cross-Posting & Social Media

Cross-posting blog posts to social media is useful. It allows for more exposure to a winder audience, and can help draw readers to the originating blog.

However, setting up cross-posting needs to be done carefully, or it can lead to unnecessary duplication, which not only looks unprofessional, but can lead to a loss of followers if they see the same post appearing several times in quick succession.

AirPods

First and foremost, I’m typing this post with the new Gutenberg editor in WordPress and this is my very first time using it. I’m sure it’s not rocket science but it’s certainly different to what went before.

Now, I’ve not been interested in AirPods. For one, I don’t usually get on with EarPods. I prefer over the ear cans. Anyway, I got the opportunity to acquire a pair at a good price, so I thought I’d give them another go. Another go? Well, I had tried them out in the local Apple Store and I wasn’t impressed.

Things I don’t like:

  • Sounds is a little bright at times
  • Not quite enough bass
  • Sound leakage
  • Poor sound isolation
  • Worry about them dropping out and losing one (or both) of them

Things I do like:

  • Wide soundstage
  • Detailed sound and good stereo seperation
  • Portability

I’m finding myself using them more than any other pair of headphones I’ve ever had before. I even walk around the house with them in, and I haven’t really ever done that much with regular cans.

OK, so they’re quite expensive, but then you do get what you pay for, and while they’re not audiophile quality they’re certainly miles better than cheaper EarPods and better than the ones that are supplied with iPhones.

Bottom line is that I would recommend them to anyone that has an iPhone.
